Congratulation to all the swimmers at the Olympic TrialsILLINOIS SWIMMING ATHLETE RECOGNITION NIGHT. Illinois Swimming and the Chicago Wolves have joined forces to recognize our outstanding athletes. Sat., Nov 29 will be Illinois Swimming Night when the Chicago Wolves take on the Rockford Icehogs at Allstate Arena at 7:00 pm. Athletes who placed in the top three in their combined age category and event will be receive a complimentary ticket for this game. Families, friends and all other Illinois Swimming members will be able to purchase discounted tickets for this game. Flyers with detailed information will be emailed shortly. Hope you can join for an enjoyable away from the deck social event. 10/6/14

Head Age Group Coach Heather Fort on being honored as one of the top ten age group coaches in America. The American Swimming Coaches Association in partnership with the Fitter and Faster Tour awarded the top ten age group coaches in the nation. These were announced at the 2014 ASCA convention. Congratulation to all the swimmers at the Olympic TrialsCONGRATULATIONS TO THE 2013-14 ILLINOIS SWIMMING SCHOLASTIC ALL-AMERICANS. Each year, USA Swimming recognizes its member athletes who excel both in the classroom and in the pool. The Scholastic All-America Team is made up of high school student-athletes who have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and who have achieved the required time standard in a single event. To be eligible for this recognition, swimmers must have completed 10th, 11th or 12th grade and must be a USA Swimming member athlete. Eligible times must be swum between July 1, 2013 and June 30, 2014. This year there were 54 Illinois Swimming individuals who made the team. To find out who made the team click here. 9/3/14

The Board of Directors of Illinois Swimming would also like to thank you for representing our LCS as well as your individual clubs and coaches. In addition, the Board would like to recognize your parents, family, friends and teammates who provided support over the many years as your talent progressed and you maximized the opportunities to reach your respective swimming goals.

The Board wishes you continued success in your competitive swimming careers as well as the endeavors you pursue outside of swimming. Congratulation to all the swimmers at the Olympic TrialsCONGRATULATIONS to Melissa Pish and Grace Ariola of the Waves Bloomington Normal Swim Team setting the following new Illinois Swimming LCM 13-14, 18-under, and Open records at the recently concluded Junior Nationals in Irvine, CA. Melissa set new records in the 13/14, 18-under, and Open 200 Free with a time of 2:01.38; the 400 Free with a time of 4:15.06 and the 800 Free with a time of 8:43.22. She also set a 13/14 record in the 100 Free with a time of 56.90. Grace set 13-14, 18-under, and Open records in the 200 Back with a time of 2:12.69, and a 13-14 record in the  100 Back with a time of 1:03.19. 8/7/14

Congratulation to all the swimmers at the Olympic TrialsDiversity & Inclusion. On June 5-8, 2014, six swimmers and a coach from the Illinois Swimming LSC attended the 3rd annual Central Zone Diversity Select Camp hosted and successfully run by Wisconsin Swimming. The camp was a big hit with our swimmers. Guest speakers included Manny Banks, USA Swimming Diversity Membership Specialist; Richard Butler, US Rowing Inclusion Manager; Sabir Muhammed, 10 time American Record Holder to motivate the swimmers. The camp coaches, Mariam Lynch, Nation Capitals Swimming; Chadlie Fernandez, City of Hialeah Parks and Recreation; did a great job keeping working the kids out. The committee had selected the following Illinois Swimming athletes and coach:

Congratulation to all the swimmers at the Olympic TrialsAge Group Camps Update. Illinois Swimming hosted three great camps over the last few months:

  • Chicago South hosted a developmental 12 and Under camp April 5. The camp was well attended with 30 athletes participating.
  • A group of 24 11-12 year old  athletes and 5 coaches attended the first ever Illinois Swimming 11-12 Grand Prix Camp. The camp was held in Charlotte during the Charlotte Grand Prix. The camp was a huge success highlighted by a sitting poolside during finals the Grand Prix meet and a trip to the NASCAR hall of fame.
  • The Junior Elite Camp consisting of 24 13 and 14 year old athletes as well as 5 coaches traveled the the Olympic Training Center May 5-8. Again this camp was great success with the swimmers getting some exceptional training and bonding time.  

Congratulation to all the swimmers at the Olympic TrialsZones Open Water Results. Congratulations to the 47 Illinois Swimming participants in the Central Zones Open Water Championships held at Pleasant Prairie. Team Illinois women finished first in the Team Rankings, Men finished second and the Team Illinois was edged out by Team Wisconsin and Ozark Swimming and finished third in the Combined Team scoring. Gold medal performances were put in by Hannah Sakaluk, Sidney Kennedy and Colin Kingsley. 6/17/14

Congratulation to all the swimmers at the Olympic TrialsState Record Breakers! Congratulations to Colin Kingsley, Lake Forest Swim Club, who broke the ISI State Record for the 10 & under Boys 400 free at the 2014 LFSC Swim Fest at the RecPlex in Pleasant Prairie. His time, 4:54.53, broke the record set in 2011 by Alsader Yezan. Colin started the day with a Gold Medal performance in the Central Zone Open Water Championships. 6/17/14

Congratulation to all the swimmers at the Olympic TrialsState Record Breakers! Three new Illinois Swimming state records were set at recent meets! The WILD 13/14 Girls 200 Free LCM Relay established a new Illinois Swimming record of 1:55.13L at the 2014 NASA Blast Off.  Relay members were Olivia Andrew, Julie Kolar, Olivia Kusio, and Cassidy Coughlin. The BNY 13/14 Girls 800 Free LCM Relay established a new Illinois Swimming record of 8:32.21L at the 2014 Indiana Central Zone Speedo Sectionals.  Relay members were Melissa Pish, Mckenzee Gordan, Sidney Kennedy and Grace Ariola. And Katherine Morris of the BR Ryall Swim Team broke the 10 and Under Girls 50 Free LCM record with a time of 29.62 at the MMSC Bring on the Heat meet on 5/10/2014 in Wisconsin. Congratulation to all the swimmers at the Olympic Trials2014 Pan Pacific Para-Swimming Championship Team Roster Announced. Congratulations to Ahalya Lettenberger from Wheaton Swim Club and Leslie Cichocki from Hickory Willow Swim Association who were named to the Emerging Team, along with Alyssa Gialamas from Fox Valley Swim Team who returns as a member of the National B Team. The United States will send 45 athletes (27 women, 18 men) to the 2014 Pan Pacific Para-Swimming Championships Aug. 6-10 in Pasadena, Calif. Selections were based on performances at the 2014 U.S. Paralympics Swimming Spring National Championships/Spring CanAm, March 27-29, in Miami. Melissa Pish from WAVES Bloomington-Normal Y.S.T. 200m Free setting a 13-14, 18 & under and Open record with a time of 2:02.07. She also set 13-14 records in the 100m Free with a time of 57.04 and the 400m Free with a time of 4:16.99.

Grace Ariola also from WAVES Bloomington-Normal Y.S.T. setting 13-14 records in the 100 m backstroke with a time of 1:03.87 and the 200m backstroke with a time of 2:16.12.

The relay of Melissa Pish, McKenzee Gordon, Sidney Kennedy and Grace Ariola also set a 13-14 800m Free record with a time of 8:32.21.

Kristen Jacobsen from Barrington Swim Club set a 15-16 record in the 1650 with a time of 16:21.08.

Congratulation to all the swimmers at the Olympic TrialsState Record Breaker! Congratulations to Kirsten Jacobsen of Barrington Swim Club setting a new ISI record in the 500 Yard Freestyle. Her time of 4:42.31 eclipsed the old record by over 3 seconds, was a 930 Power point swim and ranks 30th on the all-time list for 16 year olds. 3/12/14
