Congratulation to all the swimmers at the Olympic TrialsIMPORTANT RULE CHANGE. The Rules and Regulations Committee, acting pursuant to the provisions of Rule 511.1.1, has amended the Swimwear Advertising Rule 102.8.3 A (1) to bring the current USA Swimming Rule into conformance with FINA By-law 7.1.1 Swimsuits - adopted by the FINA Bureau. The amended rule 102.8.3 A (1 is set forth below in its entirely. The underlined portion of the rule highlights the amendment.

“(1) Swimsuits - A total of two separate advertising logos of a maximum size of 30 square centimeters (4.65 square inches) each, as measured as applied, shall be permitted.”

This rule, as amended, is effective immediately. 4/14/15

Congratulations to Ahalya Lettenberger of Wheaton Swim Club who has been selected to represent the USA at this summer's Para Pan American Games! This is the third largest international swim meet in the world. It will be held Aug 7-15 in Toronto, CA.

Congratulation to all the swimmers at the Olympic TrialsSwimToday Promotional Kits are back! Last year USA Swimming distributed 1,500 promotional kits to swim teams and learn to swim providers across the country. Based on overwhelming positive feedback USA Swimming will be distributing the kits again in 2015. This marks the second year of the SwimToday campaign where 11 industry partners are combining resources with the goal of increasing swimming participation in the sport. The campaign shows the “fun side and the benefits of swimming, encouraging parents to consider putting their child on a swim team. The 2015 SwimToday campaign will launch Memorial Day weekend with new imagery, digital advertising, public relations outreach and more. In early May we will mail a free promotional kit to swim teams and learn to swim providers that apply. For more information click here. 4/7/15

Congratulation to all the swimmers at the Olympic TrialsCentral States Clinic. The 2015 clinic will be on May 16-17, 2015 at the Oak Brook Marriott in Oak Brook, IL. The lineup of coaches and Olympians that will present includes: Gregg Troy, Bruce Gemmell, Carol Capitani, Josh Davis, Andrew Gemmell and Jackie Berning. In addition to the weekend clinic, USA Swimming and ASCA classes are offered on Thursday and Friday. This is the 34th year running the clinic in the Chicago area. Coaches this is a perfect opportunity to utilize the Illinois Swimming Coaches Education Grant. The ISI Nominating Committee is in the process of gathering a slate of candidates for election to open positions on the Illinois Swimming Board of Directors. Elections will be held at the Spring House of Delegates Meeting on April 19, 2015.

Congratulation to all the swimmers at the Olympic TrialsCONGRATULATIONS to the winning Women’s 800 Free Relay from Patriot Aquatic Club at Junior Nationals. This is the second time in a row they have won this event. The relay consisted of Erin Falconer, Erica King, Haley Nelson, Reilly Lanigan. The winning time was 7:16.85.

Congratulation to all the swimmers at the Olympic TrialsCONGRATULATIONS to Grace Ariola and Hannah Boyd of the Waves Bloomington Normal Y Swim Team setting the following new Illinois Swimming SCY 13-14, 17-18, 18-under, and Open records at the recently concluded Winter Nationals in Greensboro, NC. Grace set 13-14, 18-under, and Open records in the 200 Back with a time of 1:54.60, and a 13-14 record in the 100 Back with a time of 53.97. She finished 7th in the 200 Back, and 17th in the 100 Back. Grace now ranks 2nd among USA Swimming all-time 13-14 girls in the 200 Back, behind Missy Franklin. Hannah set a 17-18 record in the 200 Free with a time of 1:47.90, and finished 16th. 12/8/14

Head Age Group Coach Heather Fort on being honored as one of the top ten age group coaches in America. The American Swimming Coaches Association in partnership with the Fitter and Faster Tour awarded the top ten age group coaches in the nation. These were announced at the 2014 ASCA convention. Congratulation to all the swimmers at the Olympic TrialsCONGRATULATIONS TO THE 2013-14 ILLINOIS SWIMMING SCHOLASTIC ALL-AMERICANS. Each year, USA Swimming recognizes its member athletes who excel both in the classroom and in the pool. The Scholastic All-America Team is made up of high school student-athletes who have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and who have achieved the required time standard in a single event. To be eligible for this recognition, swimmers must have completed 10th, 11th or 12th grade and must be a USA Swimming member athlete. Eligible times must be swum between July 1, 2013 and June 30, 2014. This year there were 54 Illinois Swimming individuals who made the team. To find out who made the team click here. 9/3/14

Congratulation to all the swimmers at the Olympic TrialsCONGRATULATIONS to Melissa Pish and Grace Ariola of the Waves Bloomington Normal Swim Team setting the following new Illinois Swimming LCM 13-14, 18-under, and Open records at the recently concluded Junior Nationals in Irvine, CA. Melissa set new records in the 13/14, 18-under, and Open 200 Free with a time of 2:01.38; the 400 Free with a time of 4:15.06 and the 800 Free with a time of 8:43.22. She also set a 13/14 record in the 100 Free with a time of 56.90. Grace set 13-14, 18-under, and Open records in the 200 Back with a time of 2:12.69, and a 13-14 record in the  100 Back with a time of 1:03.19. 8/7/14

Congratulations to Colin Kingsley, Lake Forest Swim Club, who broke the ISI State Record for the 10 & under Boys 400 free at the 2014 LFSC Swim Fest at the RecPlex in Pleasant Prairie. His time, 4:54.53, broke the record set in 2011 by Alsader Yezan. Colin started the day with a Gold Medal performance in the Central Zone Open Water Championships. 6/17/14

Congratulation to all the swimmers at the Olympic TrialsState Record Breakers! Three new Illinois Swimming state records were set at recent meets! The WILD 13/14 Girls 200 Free LCM Relay established a new Illinois Swimming record of 1:55.13L at the 2014 NASA Blast Off.  Relay members were Olivia Andrew, Julie Kolar, Olivia Kusio, and Cassidy Coughlin. The BNY 13/14 Girls 800 Free LCM Relay established a new Illinois Swimming record of 8:32.21L at the 2014 Indiana Central Zone Speedo Sectionals.  Relay members were Melissa Pish, Mckenzee Gordan, Sidney Kennedy and Grace Ariola. And Katherine Morris of the BR Ryall Swim Team broke the 10 and Under Girls 50 Free LCM record with a time of 29.62 at the MMSC Bring on the Heat meet on 5/10/2014 in Wisconsin. Melissa Pish from WAVES Bloomington-Normal Y.S.T. 200m Free setting a 13-14, 18 & under and Open record with a time of 2:02.07. She also set 13-14 records in the 100m Free with a time of 57.04 and the 400m Free with a time of 4:16.99.

Grace Ariola also from WAVES Bloomington-Normal Y.S.T. setting 13-14 records in the 100 m backstroke with a time of 1:03.87 and the 200m backstroke with a time of 2:16.12.

The relay of Melissa Pish, McKenzee Gordon, Sidney Kennedy and Grace Ariola also set a 13-14 800m Free record with a time of 8:32.21.

Additional state records were set this past weekend at the ISI Speedo Senior Championships: Noelle Peplowski of Peoria Area Water Wizards set a state record in the 13-14 Girls 100 Breast with a time of 1:02.09. Nick Vance of St Charles Swim Team set a state record in the 11-12 Boys 200 Back with a time of 2:02.31. CONGRATULATIONS ON THE GREAT SWIMS!! 3/13/14

Congratulation to all the swimmers at the Olympic TrialsState Record Breaker! Congratulations to Kirsten Jacobsen of Barrington Swim Club setting a new ISI record in the 500 Yard Freestyle. Her time of 4:42.31 eclipsed the old record by over 3 seconds, was a 930 Power point swim and ranks 30th on the all-time list for 16 year olds. 3/12/14

His time, 5:22.06, shattered his old record time by 5 seconds!
