Congratulations to Illinois Swim Coaches. The American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) annually recognizes those coaches who coach a swimmer to a Top-8 finish at one of several USA National Level Championships. This recognition is the Award of Excellence list. Special congratulations to the following Illinois Swimming coaches on being named to that prestigious list: Judy Busse (Express Swim Team); Bob Groseth (Wildcat Aquatics) and Bob Kizer (New Trier Swim Club). 6/22/09

DeScenza Wins Grand Prix Series. Congratulations to Mary DeScenza on winning the 2008-09 USA Swimming Grand Prix Series. The former Academy Bullets swimmer was the overall winner of the six-meet scoring race winning 20 gold medals, 9 silver and 2 bronze medals. Read More 6/15/09

Volunteer of The Year Nominations. 2009 Illinois Swimming “Volunteer of the Year” nominations being sought. The Illinois Swimming “Volunteer of the Year” award was created by Illinois Swimming in 2007 to recognize the efforts of an outstanding volunteer from one of the clubs within Illinois Swimming. The idea and funding for this award was made possible by an anonymous donation. Each Illinois Swimming club is eligible to nominate one volunteer from their club to be considered for this award and all nominations must be received in the ISI Office by July 1, 2009. Forms will be reviewed by a panel and the winner will be honored at the ISI Annual Athlete Recognition Banquet Oct. 11. Nomination Form. 5/28/09

Illinois Swimming Rules and Regulations. Please see the Meets page above for the 2009 revised Rule Book. The Rule Book will be distributed at the Spring House of Delegates meeting. 4/17/09

Hotel Information. Please note that Illinois Swimming has reserved a hotel block for the long course Age Group Championships, the long course Senior State Championships, and the Central Zones meets. 4/12/09

Important USA Swimming Rule Change. Please take some time to read the new rule from USA Swimming regarding the use of multiple swim suits along with a new clarification. 3/24/2009

New Racing Start Certification Process. In an effort to ensure the safest environment for young swimmers, the USA Swimming Board of Directors voted Monday to modify the racing start rule (103.2.2).Read more on the USA Swimming website at usaswimming.org. 3/24/2009

Website Updates & LSC Portal. USA Swimming now has launched an LSC Portal for Illinois Swimming on its website. There you can find meet results, records, and much more! Effective immediately, the Meet Results page and Records page will provide you with a direct link to the Illinois Swimming LSC Portal on the USA Swimming Site, which is where official results and records are kept. Rules Addendum Published. Please see the Rules and Regulations page for a new publication from ISI. The new posting is issued as an addendum to the Illinois Swimming Rules and Regulations, which were updated and published in October 2006. The amendments were adopted in October, 2007 and became effective in November, 2007. 2/28/08
